NOTICE OF VACANCY Dean of Academics and Equity   José M. Torres, PhD, President of the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy® (IMSA) invites you to apply for this leadership opportunity to foster a uniquely challenging, highly personalized program of advanced study for our talented students who understand and share our passion for our mission.  The Dean of Academics and Equity supports all students by scaffolding and accelerating instruction based on student needs. The successful candidate will begin July 1, 2020.   Position Summary The faculty of the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy is committed to offering an innovative student-centered, constructivist curricula designed to engage students in generative, critical thought.  As the leader of the academic programs of the residential academy, the Dean advances curriculum and assessment aligned to revised Standards of Significant Learning (SSLs) that transitions the Academy to competency and performance-based instruction. The Dean is also responsible for supporting and advancing equity and excellence throughout the academic programs.  Development of an assessment plan including a critical review of appropriate metrics and measures is an instrumental element of this role. Inherent with this role is the willingness and ability to collaborate with, gather input from, and consider input from students, parents, and staff, including faculty. In addition, the Dean will collaborate closely with the Principal, the Dean of Faculty and Equity, and the Dean of Student Support and Equity to support the Academy’s mission.

The successful candidate will begin July 1, 2020.   Position Summary The Dean oversees student support for academics within the residential academy. Oversight encompasses all aspects related to the students’ academic experience from initial placement and scheduling to ongoing academic support throughout the students’ three years at the Academy. The Dean also guides the Academy’s efforts to make certain every student is known, challenged and supported academically in equitable ways. Inherent in this role is the willingness and ability to collaborate with, gather and consider input from students, parents and staff, including faculty. The Dean also facilitates restorative work between/among student to student and student to faculty. In addition, the Dean will collaborate with the Principal, the Dean of Faculty and Equity, and the Dean of Academics and Equity to support the Academy’s mission.

The World Languages Team at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy® (IMSA) is seeking a full-time Spanish instructor starting in the fall of 2020. World Languages at IMSA are taught in an immersion learning environment with a departmentally developed curriculum framework. We encourage individuals who enjoy making a difference in the lives of talented high school students to apply.   Successful candidates will have a master’s or doctorate degree in Spanish, Second Language Acquisition (with an emphasis in Spanish), or a related field and a record of demonstrated successful teaching. Preference will be given to those candidates with experience in curriculum design and knowledge of ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines. The Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA) is seeking applications for the position of Coordinator of Student Activities as a member of the Student Affairs team. This individual will provide leadership and serve as the primary coordinator for campus-wide, student-centered, equitable education and social activity programs that promote the development of the whole student. Student activities programs contribute significantly to the intentional living and learning environment by enhancing student skills, decision-making abilities, and character development.  The Coordinator works with students and staff to plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate social and recreational programs, both on and off-campus for the IMSA community. The Coordinator of Student Activities is a member of the Division of Student Affairs, collaborating with the Office of Residence Life and the Athletics & Co-Curriculars team to promote student leadership within the IMSA Community.   The Coordinator of Student Activities role is a full-time, exempt, 10-month, employment-at-will position. Hours may vary and include evening and weekend responsibilities to support student programs and events.   This position will support IMSA's diversity stance by ensuring the delivery of quality, equitable, and inclusive constituent-centered support, while promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture, that embraces the diversity of people and perspectives collaborating at IMSA, to ignite and nurture creative, ethical, scientific minds that advance the human condition.
