The World Languages Team at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy® (IMSA) is seeking a part-time Spanish instructor to start in January 2024. World Languages at IMSA are taught in an immersion learning environment with a departmentally developed curriculum framework. We encourage individuals who enjoy making a difference in the lives of talented high school students to apply.   Successful candidates will have a master’s or doctorate degree in Spanish, Second Language Acquisition (with an emphasis in Spanish), or a related field and a record of demonstrated successful teaching. Preference will be given to those candidates with experience in curriculum design and knowledge of ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines. Under the direction of the State of Illinois Chief Procurement Officer for Higher Education and State Procurement Officer, responsible for overseeing IMSA’s procurement process ensuring that the Academy’s operational needs are met and conducted in conformance with the State’s procurement requirements as well as established procurement procedures required by IMSA. Position requires providing professional support, anticipating departmental needs, sourcing, purchasing recommendations and training to Academy staff for all types of procurement. Performs highly responsible functions of a complex and technical nature requiring the frequent exercise of good judgment and leadership initiative to ensure that processes, best practices, and documents accurately reflect purchasing needs. POSITION SUMMARY   This individual will have leadership responsibility for designing and fostering a comprehensive and dynamic development program that results in significant supplemental resources (money and volunteers) to support IMSA’s legislative charges and mission. POSITION SUMMARY The Artificial Intelligence Lab Director is responsible for offering expertise and educational programs to support learning and development in AI to IMSA students, faculty, and the community at large.  This includes seminars, workshops, advocacy for the experimentation of AI in curriculum, and other programming and professional development.  As such, the Director ensures continuous improvement in these areas to support the mission, vision, and strategic goals of the Academy.  IMSA’s 2033 vision is to build curricular and lab space capacity on the Aurora campus to support the growth and experimentation of artificial intelligence and its applications. The Center for Artificial Intelligence promotes AI literacy, research, and education, providing lab space for learning/professional development opportunities that equip students, staff, and faculty to thrive in a technology-focused future. The Center is designed to be a venue that encourages entry into AI curriculum to solve real-world challenges that advance the human condition regardless of research focus, academic area, or position. This individual is responsible for developing and implementing STEM education initiatives for students and teachers with a particular focus on computer science. The Curriculum and Professional Development team is responsible for developing and implementing STEM education initiatives for students and educators throughout Illinois and beyond, including providing support for IMSA staff including faculty. Educator Innovation activities work to enrich science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) teaching and learning throughout the state of Illinois and beyond by providing research-based, practice-proven programs. The FBLA co-curricular sponsor will work with the group of students who are interested in furthering their knowledge with the various functions of the Future Business Leaders of America through regular meetings & competitions. The mission of the FBLA is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs. The time commitment for this co-curricular is extensive and does involve some travel to competitions during the academic year. With this being a new co-curricular, the sponsor will have some latitude to work with the Coordinator of Athletics & Co-Curriculars to tailor the season of competition that will be sustainable over the years.

Experience in a high school coaching role or club setting is preferred. This is a stipend position that is based on experience in coaching and years involved in the sport. The Assistant Coach must be able to pass a background check, pass a CPR/AED basic life saving course and possess a valid Illinois drivers license to be able to drive any of the IMSA vehicles, which include up to a 14 passenger mini-bus. (no additional tests or endorsements are needed to operate these vehicles)  Any potential candidate must have or be willing to obtain either of the following requirements as per IHSA By-Laws:(1) Possess a completion certificate of an approved IHSA coaching course. POSITION SUMMARY The selected candidate will be responsible for responding to calls for service, writing reports, and providing and ensuring adequate patrols of the campus to promote a safe learning and working environment for the IMSA Community and its visitors to the campus.  Security Officers may be responsible for Front Desk Operations including, but not limited to; monitoring access to main building, registering guests through a visitor management system, monitoring CCTV camera system, answering telephone switchboard system, monitoring alarm systems, and relaying calls for service to other Patrol Officers.   Hours/Shift/Work Schedule: This position is a part time non-exempt position. Hours/Shift/Work Schedule:  This position is a part-time, 10 month (Summers Off), .50FTE.  Hours worked: Hours worked will fall between 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional nights and weekends.   The selected candidate will directly report to and support the Information Resource Center Supervisor. The IRC is a member of the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI). Through CARLI we participate in the I-Share online catalog system, which is comprised of over 130 Illinois academic libraries. Using I-Share, the academy’s financial system, and vendor online systems, the IRC Technical Services Associate purchases and processes materials, including books and other library media. POSITION SUMMARY Resident Counselors (RCs) are members of a four person hall staff, who work collaboratively to monitor and support a residence hall. Each of our seven residence halls houses approximately 96 students. RCs are charged with directly supporting and developing 24 students in their wing. Through this live-in campus position, RCs facilitate the personal, social, emotional, and academic growth of students through personal interactions and programming in a living learning environment. Majority of work hours occur during the evening or on weekends, although occasional work may need to be completed before 3pm on weekdays. Athletic Department Game Day Worker The Illinois Math & Science Academy is seeking an individual who has some evenings free to work the score table for home boys & girls basketball games & home boys & girls volleyball games. Experience in sports and use of a scorebook & scoreboard would be extremely helpful, but not entirely necessary for the right candidate with athletic knowledge. This position usually has 1-3 games per week and a 3 hour minimum commitment per game based on whether there are multiple games that night during the basketball & volleyball seasons. The schedule is based on our home game schedule for these sports.
