  • Overview

    The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining the agency Mail Room and coordinating the Facilities Call Center. This position reports to and is evaluated by the Facilities Service Manager.

     

    Hours/Shift/Work Schedule:  This position is a full time non-exempt position.  Hours worked: 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday with occasional weekend or evening hours.

    Responsibilities

    This individual will be responsible for, but not limited to:

     

    • Process and distribute incoming/outgoing mail
    • Track delivery of packages
    • Liaison between agency and USPS
    • Manage shipping equipment and supplies
    • Provide open window opportunities for package distribution
    • Maintain Facilities Call Center
    • Data entry of facilities work orders
    • Assist Facilities Coordinator with Academy related business
    • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • 2 years of experience in customer service
    • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
    • Detail-oriented and ability to multi-task
    • Ability to work independently and initiate tasks and projects
    • Ability to adapt to a work environment that requires learning and acquisition of skills to successfully fulfill responsibilities and duties
    • Ability to use basic office equipment and Microsoft Office applications

    WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Stand and carry packages for periods of time.
    • Operate standard office equipment
    • Receive, process, and provide visual and verbal information
    • Provide timely response to externally imposed conditions and deadlines
    • Responds to concurrent, multiple, non-related issues
    • Extended periods of standing
    • Regular bending and kneeling
    • Regular lifting up to 40 lbs.

     

    COMPENSATION:

    The position of Facilities Customer Service Specialist is a full-time, 12-month, employment-at-will position.  Beginning hourly rate is no less than $14.48. The Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy offers an excellent comprehensive benefits package including health and retirement benefits with the State University Retirement System.  The State Universities Retirement System (SURS) is reciprocal with other Illinois public retirement systems such as the Teachers’ Retirement System of Illinois (TRS) and the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF).
