    This position will be responsible to provide creative design and timely execution of print and website assets that successfully support the recruitment of K-12 students, educators and other constituents. It is expected this individual possess expert, contemporary print and web design skills, nonprofit experience and enthusiasm that embraces a highly collaborative creative process to IMSA’s Office of Public Affairs, making an impact on the future identity of this world-leading STEM educational institution.

    The internationally recognized Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy IMSA) develops creative, ethical leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. As a teaching and learning laboratory created by the State of Illinois, IMSA enrolls academically talented Illinois students (grades 10–12) in its advanced, residential college preparatory program. It also serves thousands of educators and students in Illinois and beyond through innovative instructional programs that foster imagination and inquiry.

    Responsibilities

    • Maintain the imsa.edu home page with current events, new information and fresh imagery
    • Concept and design of digital assets including but not limited to website graphics, online advertising, landing pages and miscellaneous digital graphics and communication including social media and Constant Contact.
    • Concept and design of printed materials including but not limited to annual publications, and recruitment campaigns.
    • Manage website traffic analytics and provide regular reporting of the Academy’s web effectiveness in order to assess success and determine areas of opportunity (data-driven marketing decision-making).
    • Strong production skills with the ability to prepare files for commercial printing.
    • Capable of meeting deadlines.
    • Creative aptitude to create futuristic high level designs.
    • Research new design trends on an ongoing bases.
    • Collaborate with OPA team members and outside creative vendors to provide insight and assistance from conception to final product.
    • Support internal clients including admissions and outreach with the design of presentations.
    • Meet department's communication objectives through a thorough knowledge of type and design in order to develop concepts, sketches, comprehensives, or camera-ready art and advising them of appropriate options to achieve their communication objectives.
    • Operate within budgets and deadlines established for various publications by following an established production schedule, preparing specifications for print vendors, preparing cost estimates, overseeing the print vendor bidding process, reviewing printer's proofs.
    • Serve as a contributing member of the Office of Public Affairs team and larger IMSA community.
    • Contribute to the overall success of the Illinois Math and Science Academy’s strategic plan.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic/Fine Arts with 6 years of work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • WordPress Development experience
    • Demonstrated proficiency in print and digital work 
    • Strong Knowledge in HTML, CSS, plugins and custom theme templates
    • Experience in applications and framework
    • Knowledge in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Constant Contact, MailChimp, Hubspot and CMS languages (HTML, PHP, Javascript)
    • Experience working in nonprofit organizations.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to be creative, innovative, flexible, and decisive.
    • Excellent project management skills, including keen attention to detail.
    • Demonstrated ability to work well with a variety of individuals and diverse populations.
    • Ability to work independently, resolve issues, seek help when needed, work on concurrent projects and consistently meet deadlines.

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Work is performed in an office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.  Substantial time is spent working on a computer.  This role requires the following physical activities: talking, hearing and visual acuity, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, finger dexterity, repetitive motions, loading, unloading and moving materials/boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.
